Q. How do I place an order with PPI?

Q. How can I check the status of my order?

A: Orders placed online will receive an e-mail confirmation. You can check the status of an online order by logging into your account and selecting ‘Orders’ under the ‘My Account’ menu of your Counselor Dashboard. To check the status of orders placed by mail, phone, or fax, please contact us at 1-800-345-8378 or send an e-mail to support@tjta.com. Q. What kind of products does PPI carry?

PPI is a publisher and distributor of psychological assessments, software, books, and other related resources for professional and pastoral counselors dealing with an extensive range of psychological issues: adult, adolescent, and child personality counseling; marriage and family counseling; career counseling and human resources; drug and alcohol abuse; and anxiety, depression, anger, and stress.

Q. Do you have international distributors for your products?

PPI does not have international distributors. PPI products are printed and distributed in the U.S. and can be shipped to most countries around the world. PPI does organize and provide international training for the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis® (T-JTA®). Please see the T-JTA Trainers section of this website or contact us at info@tjta.com for more information.

Q. Do you carry foreign language versions of your products?

Yes, the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis® (T-JTA®) is available in Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Portuguese, Danish, Korean, and Indonesian. Using our online store, select the preferred language for your T-JTA product before placing the item in your shopping cart.

Q. Where can I obtain additional information about one of your products?

Our online store and catalog provide a general description of the products and services we offer. For detailed information about product development, administration, scoring procedures, and psychometric qualities, it is best to refer to the professional manual of a given product.

Q. Does PPI offer scoring and reporting services for any of its products?

Qualification Process

Q. Can anyone purchase T-JTA and other assessment materials?

First time purchasers must establish their credentials to qualify to purchase and administer the T-JTA and most other assessments. Qualification consists of a short list of questions regarding your educational background and professional training. When you place your initial order, you will automatically be asked to establish your qualifications by registering for an account. To get qualified now, you may register online. 

 

Qualification Level A: This is the lowest level, for people who have not earned a degree in the relevant areas and have not taken any of the listed courses. This enables them to by a select few products.

Qualification Level B: his is the middle level, and is where most customers will fall. This enables them to buy T-JTA assessments and everything else from us except for one test – the Basic Personality Inventory (BPI).

Qualification Level C:This is the highest level and enables the customer to buy everything, including the BPI.

Q. How long will it take for my application to be approved?

Applications that meet our minimum educational requirements are immediately approved. If an application requires special review, a decision is typically rendered within one business day and you will be notified via email.

Q. Do I need to attend a T-JTA training to use the T-JTA?

Training is required and included in your initial purchase of the T-JTA Certification Training Package. . If you meet our minimum educational requirements for Qualification Level B or C, you are ready to use the T-JTA. T-JTA certification training webinars are offered frequently for new T-JTA users.  Please contact PPI at info@tjta.com for more information.

Shipping Information

Q. How fast do you ship orders?

Shipping charges and return policy are subject to change without notice.

Orders placed before 12:00 pm Pacific Time will be dispatched on the same day or in some cases within one business day. Any orders received after 12:00 pm, on weekends, or during holidays will be processed and shipped within the following 1-2 business days.

Q. Can you ship my order to a P.O. Box?

Orders from the U.S. are normally shipped via a traceable method, which requires a street address. This allows us to track your package in the event of a problem or delay. If you are unable to provide a street address, your order may be delayed. Someone should be available at the street address to receive and sign for the package.

Q. What are your Shipping & Handling charges?

Shipping & Handling charges will appear as a separate item on your invoice. This charge includes secure packaging, insurance, and rapid processing of your order. Rates and delivery times are based on the destination and the specific shipping method you select for your order. Guaranteed delivery time does not include the day you placed the order.

U.S. DESTINATIONS

Orders sent via UPS. Rates and delivery times based upon the chosen shipping method:

  • Ground service (traceable) to destinations in the U.S. (3-5 business days): 10% of the order subtotal,
    $15.00 minimum ($50 minimum for Alaska/Hawaii).
  • 2nd Day Air: 20% of the order subtotal, $30.00 minimum ($60 minimum for Alaska/Hawaii)
  • Overnight: 25% of the order subtotal, $45.00 minimum ($80 minimum for Alaska/Hawaii).

CANADA DESTINATIONS

Orders sent via UPS (3-5 business days, traceable): 15 % of order subtotal, $40.00 minimum. Customers are responsible for all applicable duties and taxes.

OTHER INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS

Expedited service (3-7 business days, traceable) to other international destinations: 15% of order subtotal, $60.00 minimum. Customers are responsible for all applicable duties and taxes.

Q. How do I check the status of my order?

Orders placed online will receive an e-mail confirmation. For further information about the status of your order, please contact us at info@tjta.com. Please include the exact name and complete shipping address that you used when placing the order.

Q. Will I have to pay any additional charges when my package is delivered?

For shipments to Canada and other international destinations (depending on the country and/or region) additional customs and/or duties may be assessed.

Return Policy

Q. What merchandise can be returned to PPI?

Materials may be returned within 30 days of the delivery date. All returned materials must be unopened and received in suitable condition for resale accompanied by a copy of the original invoice. Returned materials that are not T-JTA-related are subject to a 20% restocking charge ($10.00 minimum). Shipping and handling charges are not refundable. Please send all returns to PPI via UPS, certified mail, or other traceable method. 

Our return policy for digital products depends on the specific item. If you have purchased an unfinished online assessment, you may request a full refund within one year from the date of purchase. Sales of T-JTA Dollars, digital books/manuals, and online training courses are final and non-refundable. Should you need to transfer T-JTA Dollars to another account, we are happy to accommodate your request.

Q. Where and how should I return merchandise to PPI?

Return your merchandise via a traceable method (e.g., UPS, FedEx, or certified mail) to our physical address:

NOTE: PPI is not responsible for the loss of merchandise that is returned via a non-traceable shipment method (e.g., regular postal service).

Q. What documentation needs to accompany my return?

To ensure prompt and appropriate processing of your credit, make sure you include the following documentation with your returned merchandise:

  • A copy of your original invoice. (If you do not have a copy of the invoice, please reference the name of the authorized buyer, name of organization, PPI account number, and provide the complete address to which your order was originally shipped).
  • A note including the reason for your return and any exchange request.

Q. Does PPI require prior return authorization?

Prior authorization should be obtained for all returns. Failure to obtain prior approval may result in a delay in processing your return. To obtain prior authorization, simply e-mail our customer service at tjta@tjta.com.

Q. Does PPI charge a restocking fee?

Returns on items that are not PPI publications (not related to the T-JTA) require prior authorization and are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Q. The item I received is damaged or defective. Do I have to pay to return it to PPI?

If you received an item that was damaged or defective, please contact our customer service at support@tjta.com or call us at 1-800-345-8378. We will be happy to assist you in obtaining a replacement, and we can arrange for a pickup of the damaged or defective merchandise.

Q. I ordered the wrong item by mistake. Can I exchange it for another item?

Yes. The exchange process depends on the original method of payment:

  • If you paid by a credit card or a check, we can apply the credit toward your purchase of the new item(s). Include your request for the exchange and any additional payment with the returned merchandise (see instructions under “Where and how should I return merchandise to PPI?”).
  • If your original order was placed using a company/institutional purchase order, you will need to process the exchange request through your purchasing department (they may need to issue a new Purchase Order.) Then contact our customer service to expedite the exchange process.

Q. Are PPI’s materials protected by copyright?

All PPI and T-JTA materials are protected by copyright. This applies to website information, testing products and their components (including quoted material found in manuals, books, or brochures). Registering for an account, or placing an order to purchase materials from PPI, implies your acceptance of these terms and conditions. For additional information, read our Terms and Conditions of Sale and Use of Psychological Publications, Inc. Products.

Psychological Publications, Inc. is bound by its author contracts to commence prompt legal action against anyone who infringes on its or its authors’ copyrights. Any infringer shall be subject to prosecution to the full extent of the law, including but not limited to statutory damages of $100,000 for willful infringement of copyright.

Q. Can I photocopy one of your products for use in my research or graduate coursework?

No, all tests or sections of a test published by PPI are copyrighted. Copyright restrictions strictly prohibit photocopying or modifying PPI materials in whole or in part. If you plan to use a test in its entirety, you must purchase the number of test protocols you will need for your purposes.

It is possible to request special permission to use PPI copyrighted materials in one of the following circumstances:

  • You wish to reproduce PPI testing materials for purposes of a publication or presentation.
  • You wish to include part of a test form in an Appendix within a thesis paper or dissertation.
  • You wish to modify a product in some way (change wording, use a different answer sheet, translate, etc.) for research or clinical purposes.
  • You wish to obtain permission to use an existing authorized translation of a PPI product.

Q. Does PPI allow any modification or reproduction of their products?

T-JTA General Information

Q. What is the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis® (T-JTA®) and how is it used?

A: The Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis® (T-JTA®) is a valuable standardized test and counseling tool. The T-JTA is a personality inventory designed for use in individual, premarital, marital, group, and family counseling. It is currently in extensive use as a diagnostic instrument to determine therapeutic goals and evaluate progress and change, and in direct use with clients as part of the counseling process.

Q. What does the T-JTA® measure?

A: The T-JTA measures nine personality traits and their bipolar opposites, all of which are important components of and significantly influence personal, scholastic, and vocational functioning and interpersonal relationships:

  • Nervous ↔ Composed
  • Depressive ↔ Light-Hearted
  • Active-Social ↔ Quiet
  • Expressive-Responsive ↔ Inhibited
  • Sympathetic ↔ Indifferent
  • Subjective ↔ Objective
  • Dominant ↔ Submissive
  • Hostile ↔ Tolerant
  • Self-disciplined ↔ Impulsive

Q. How does the T-JTA help the counselor to diagnose problems areas?

A: The T-JTA functions as a diagnostic device to identify individual strengths as well as areas needing improvement. T-JTA results pinpoint specific problem areas, providing insight into the internal forces that produce external complaints or conflicts. It is used with individuals, couples, and families.

Q. What is T-JTA “Criss-Cross" testing?

A: In addition to its application as a personality inventory in working with individuals, the T-JTA is uniquely designed for use with couples and families. Questions can be answered first as they apply to oneself, and then as they apply to another person in T-JTA “Criss-Cross” fashion. This procedure adds a measure of interpersonal perception to the counseling perspective. Similarities, differences, and areas of misunderstanding become readily apparent.

For example, for a typical marriage counseling situation, a set of T-JTA “Criss-Cross” Profiles is generated for the couple and will consist of the following 5 Profiles:

  • Husband Profile: The husband’s self-perception
  • Wife Profile: The wife’s self-perception
  • Couple Profile: A composite of the two self assessments
  • Husband by Wife: The husband as seen by the wife
  • Wife by Husband: The wife as seen by the husband

Q. Can the T-JTA profiled results be used in an actual counseling session?

A: Yes. The T-JTA Profile functions as a counseling tool and is designed for direct use with the client. Trait definitions are included at the bottom of the Profile to assist the counselor in describing the meaning of the traits measured. The insights derived from the T-JTA profiled results assist in improving self-understanding and aid the promotion of personal growth and change.

Q. Can I send the T-JTA Profiles home with my client?

A: We recommend that the counselor retain all T-JTA profiled results to maintain privacy and confidentiality. However, should the counselor deem it appropriate, a T-JTA Report Booklet can be given to the client. This 7-8 page booklet is designed to help test-takers understand their T-JTA results. It is intended to emphasize what they learned during the interpretation and reinforce areas of strength and areas where attention may be needed. A T-JTA Report Sheet can also be given to the client. It is a one page sumarry of their T-JTA results.

Q. How long does it take to administer the test?

A: Approximately 30 minutes (non-timed).

Q. What age range can use the T-JTA?

A: The T-JTA can be used with ages 11 and above.

Q. What are the latest norms for the T-JTA?

A: T-JTA norms were most recently restandardized in 2012. Based on data collected from over 55,000 tests, the 2012 T-JTA norms contain the most current and comprehensive data ever collected for the instrument. T-JTA norms include the following age-based population groups:

  • Adolescent Males and Females ages 11 to 17
  • Young Adult Males and Females ages 18 to 25
  • General Adult Males and Females ages 26 to 54
  • Senior Adult Males and Females ages 55 & above

Q. Is the T-JTA available in different languages?

A: The T-JTA has been translated into a number of foreign languages, including Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, and Indonesian. The T-JTA can be taken online in any of these languages, and printed materials are available for most of these as well. Contact PPI for more information on these and other ongoing translations.

The T-JTA can be scored using T-JTA Online.

Q. Are T-JTA materials copyrighted?

Yes, Psychological Publications, Inc. is the international copyright holder of all T-JTA materials, in all languages and editions. As a condition to the sale of any and all T-JTA test and related materials, the purchaser agrees to adhere PPI’s Terms and Conditions of Sale and Use. Acceptance of the purchaser to these terms and conditions is given by registering for an account, submitting an application form through mail, fax, or email, submitting a completed order form or making a purchase on our online store, or by payment of part or all of a Psychological Publications, Inc. invoice for any and all tests and related materials.

Q. Can T-JTA materials be reproduced?

Q. Can the T-JTA be modified, adapted, or translated?

No adaptations, modifications, translations, or special versions may be made without the prior written permission from the publisher. Users are advised that such adaptation, modification, translation, or special version may affect the validity of the tests. Psychological Publications, Inc. has the sole right to authorize any translations, adaptations, modifications, and reproductions of any portion of its published test materials.

Q. Are the T-JTA norms copyrighted?

Yes, T-JTA norms are copyrighted. The reproduction or copying of test norms without written authorization of Psychological Publications, Inc. whether reproductions or copies are sold or furnished free for use, is a violation of copyright. The term “copying” includes, but is not limited to, entry of test norms into a computer program or digital storage medium for purposes of test processing, scoring, or reporting.

Q. What is the procedure to obtain permission to translate, adapt, modify, reproduce, or quote from the T-JTA?

For permission to translate, adapt, modify, reproduce, or quote from any T-JTA materials, send a request in writing containing a full explanation of the requested permissions to Psychological Publications, Inc. Permission to reproduce is not normally granted unless the material cannot be used in its published format. Requests to include an entire test in any published medium will not be granted.

When requesting permission to translate, adapt, modify, reproduce, or quote any T-JTA materials, the following information must be included:

  • Specific purpose and proposed use
  • Exact description of the specific material to be translated, adapted, modified, or reproduced
  • Specified time period and number of copies to be used
  • Completed and signed Application to Purchase/Qualification Summary by the requestor. If the requestor is a graduate student completing a dissertation or thesis, an Application to Purchase/Qualification Summary for the graduate advisor should also be submitted.

Q. Can permission to translate, adapt, modify, reproduce, or quote from the 
T-JTA be given over the telephone?

We do not give permission to translate, adapt, modify, reproduce, or quote over the telephone. Authorization from Psychological Publications, Inc. is valid only in written form. Requests may be submitted by mail or fax.
